Trench Graffiti (2022/23) is a photographic record of graffiti found on the walls of mock trenches at a multinational military training programme for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, at an undisclosed location in England. Documented by artist Stanislava Pinchuk, the inscriptions were made by Ukrainian soldiers during their preparation for war, transforming the temporary training grounds into a space of personal expression and collective memory.

Arranged geographically from west to east, the names of Ukrainian cities, call signs, phone numbers and other inscriptions become traces of presence, identity and longing. Rather than treating graffiti simply as vandalism, Pinchuk considers these marks as intimate gestures of survival and remembrance—small acts through which individuals leave evidence of themselves in an uncertain time.
